Refining Bitcoin Association: Learning from OpenAI and WorldCoin

Refining Bitcoin Association: Learning from OpenAI and WorldCoin

Tech & Innovation

Tech & Innovation

The Bitcoin Association (now BSV Blockchain Association) has undergone various changes over the years, seemingly reactive to events as it finds its identity and purpose under each change in leadership. As someone who’s worked with them, for some of that time, I understand the issues intimately.

Upon reflection, there’s much the Bitcoin Association can learn from organizations like the IEEE, Linux Foundation, and OpenAI Labs to bridge this gap. Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI Labs, provides a good “leadership: example for the association: he runs a non-profit, is mission-driven, and is building a reputation for working well with regulators.

Regulatory Compliance & AI Technology

The crypto and blockchain industries face ongoing issues with regulatory compliance due to its focus on profiteering versus productivity. AI-based tools such as ChatGPT emphasize productivity by saving time through automation. Bitcoin still has yet to have its ChatGPT moment (which is why I predict ~15 more years until we see a convergence of AI and blockchain).

Lessons from Worldcoin

One example worth exploring is WorldCoin, another offshoot of Sam Altman's ideas. WorldCoin aims to create an open-source protocol supported by a global community that expands participation in and access to the global economy.

In order for the BSV Blockchain Association to better position itself within the market, it should align more closely with its stated mission of being a “steward of the Bitcoin protocol.” And you can look to WorldCoin’s own homepage for inspiration on how to do that (see below of their own SEO meta description):

Below is an example of what the BSV Association website could look like, taking inspiration from WorldCoin’s website:

This strategy could serve as inspiration for the Association as it redefines itself — focusing on creating accessible protocols while fostering collaboration among diverse groups of developers, economists, technologists, and others committed to expanding economic opportunities globally.

Conclusion

By implementing a similar strategy to WorldCoin, from a marketing and growth perspective, the Association can position itself as a steward of the Bitcoin protocol while fostering collaboration among diverse groups of individuals committed to expanding economic opportunities globally.
